<p align="justify">One of her main problems was severe hot flashes. Just basic slow breathing techniques help reduce her hot flashes when they occurred. I had to talk my mother into trying this one but she finally did, acupuncture. This was said to reduce hot flashes to an extent and they did help her out.</p>
<p align="justify">I also told her to work out more, she watches too much television and needed to be more active. She has a workout regimen in the mornings and has been feeling better even since. I figure she took care of me for so long it was time to return the favor. She would have never looked up natural remedies herself I know.</p>
<p align="justify">One of the herbs that I was willing to give my mother to try was Black Cohosh. I saw a mixed bag of reviews and wasn&#8217;t sure it really works, or when you take it you think you will get better therefore you might. It could be what they call a sham drug. As the levels of estrogen taper off, the assumption is that as a compensating mechanism, the body takes on more fat cells due to the fact that they produce estrogen as well (but in lesser quantities). Thus, weight gain has always been linked to the reduction in the levels of estrogen. However, estrogen is not the only hormone that plays a role in the process. Some new studies are demonstrating that adrenaline and cortisol also play a function in menopausal fat gain.</p>
